Third Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon begins

The 59-kilometer marathon from Jumla to Mugu’s Rara has started. The competition was inaugurated by Karnali Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi today. The race started in front of Chandannath Temple and District Administration Office and had around 400 participants from children to senior citizens.

For the third time, a marathon race has been organized in Jumla under the coordination of record marathon runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya. Players from 10 different districts of Nepal and India are also participating in the race. According to the organizer Karnali Sport Club, 156 athletes have participated in the 5 km race.

Chief Minister Shahi said that the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon has raised the head not only of Jumla but also of Karnali. He said that the Karnali state government would provide necessary assistance for this.

Chief Minister Shahi expressed happiness over the support extended to players like Baikuntha Manandhar. Karnali, who holds the world record, has conveyed the message of this potential competition. Saroj Shahi, president of the club, said that the first place winners of the tournament from Khalanga to Mugu Raratal will be awarded Rs 1 lakh each.
